Point cloud survey
LiDAR 3D scanning that captures a site as measured spatial data, ready to model, draw over, or hand to your consultants. Delivered in the formats your workflow already uses.
Quick answer A point cloud survey captures a site as measured 3D data, delivered in formats such as E57, RCP, LAS and XYZ. Documentation capture is typically 10–20 mm accurate, and 5–10 mm where the project needs it. Kybos is not a registered surveyor.

Architects and engineers draw over the measured building instead of old plans and tape measures.
Coordinate new work against the structure and services already in place before anything is ordered or cut.
Lay the as-built capture against the design to see where the finished work differs, and by how much.
Pull a dimension, a level or a clearance from the data months on, with nobody returning to site.

The raw spatial data: millions of measured points capturing exact site geometry.

The point cloud modelled into an intelligent Revit model, LOD 200–400, produced through scan-to-BIM.
Scan-to-BIM
2D floor plans, elevations, sections and reflected ceiling plans, drawn from the scan.
For documentation and coordination, capture is typically 10–20 mm. Where a project needs it tighter, structural engineering, heritage, complex civil, terrestrial laser scanning reaches 5–10 mm depending on conditions. The method is matched to your tolerance at quote stage.
Kybos captures measured 3D data. It isn’t a registered surveyor, so where certified survey data is required, it works alongside one.
A point cloud is the measured record. Turning it into an intelligent Revit or IFC model is the scan-to-BIM step, built straight off the same scan.
Scan-to-BIM
A point cloud is a measured 3D dataset made up of millions of spatial points captured from a building or site and delivered in formats such as E57 or RCP/RCS. Scan-to-BIM uses that point cloud as a reference to create a structured Revit model, with architectural, structural and MEP elements modelled as required by the project scope.
Yes. Registered point cloud data can be used to produce floor plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, DWG or DXF drawings, and Revit Scan-to-BIM models. Model detail can be specified from LOD 200 to LOD 400, with IFC export available where required.
Point clouds in E57, RCP/RCS, LAS and XYZ; Revit models in RVT with IFC export; and CAD drawings in DWG or DXF. Deliverables are scoped to suit the software and workflow of the project team.
General reality-capture documentation may typically be within approximately 10–20 mm, while higher-precision terrestrial laser scanning workflows can target approximately 5–10 mm where required. The method and tolerance are confirmed during project scoping.
Raw point clouds are typically opened in Autodesk ReCap, CloudCompare, Revit, Navisworks or other compatible applications. Kybos can also provide browser-based viewing so stakeholders can navigate the data without specialist software.
It records the current geometry and condition of a building or site before renovation, demolition or construction. Where certified survey information is required, Kybos works alongside a registered surveyor.
