Belongil Beach Pre-Plaster 3D Capture: Recording 960 m² Before Wall Linings
Before plasterboard goes on, a construction project reaches one of its most information-rich stages. Plumbing, electrical services, framing and structural elements are still visible, but once the walls are lined, much of that information becomes difficult or costly to access again.
At a Belongil Beach residential build for Atlanta Building, Kybos captured approximately 960 m² at pre-plaster stage to create a permanent visual record of the work before it was covered.
Project overview
Location: Belongil Beach, Northern Rivers NSW
Client: Atlanta Building
Construction stage: Pre-plaster
Approximate captured area: 960 m²
Recorded conditions included visible plumbing, electrical services, framing and structural elements before wall linings were installed.
Why capture at pre-plaster stage?
Pre-plaster capture creates a reference point for information that will soon disappear behind finished surfaces. Instead of relying only on memory, scattered phone photos or assumptions, project teams can return to a spatial record of what was visible at the time of capture.
For builders and owners, this can be useful later when planning alterations, checking likely service locations, reviewing concealed work or discussing what was present before the walls were closed.
Kybos offers dedicated pre-plaster 3D capture as part of its construction-stage documentation workflow.
What the capture preserves
Visible service routes before they are concealed
Wall framing and structural relationships
A whole-space visual reference rather than isolated photographs
A record that can be revisited after finishes are installed
Deliverables
The project package included a 3D model, floor plan and hosted access to the captured site record. The aim was not to replace certified surveying or engineering documentation, but to preserve a detailed visual reference of the build at a stage that would soon be hidden.
How this fits into a construction documentation strategy
Pre-plaster is one of several useful capture milestones. Depending on the project, Kybos can also document existing conditions, dilapidation, pre-slab, progress, defects and final handover so the record develops alongside the build.

Once the wall linings are installed, the information behind them becomes much harder to verify. Capturing that stage turns a temporary site condition into a record that can be revisited later.
Planning a pre-plaster capture?
Kybos works with builders, developers, architects and owners across South East Queensland and Northern NSW. The best time to schedule a pre-plaster capture is after key services are installed and before wall linings begin.
